Michelle,
They just eliminated Suzie in Rockstar INXS. (I doubt I spoiled it for anyone; no one watches the shows I do - e.g. The Shield) So we're finally here where I said we'd be right from the start (okay, not from the start. But week three's good enough).
Just to backtrack a bit, everyone could tell from the start who the top five to six people are. After that there's a huge, huge dropoff. It's like drafting for your fantasy teams Philippine colleges. People will have their opinions about which school is ranked first, second, third, fourth, but after your first few universities you're pretty much left with shit.
I was wrong about my top five though. Let's be honest: if Ty Taylor of Dakota Moon were white, he'd be a lock to win the competition. He brought it every single week, with the highest Great/Horrible ratio. I think his No Woman No Cry and Everybody Hurts are among the best so far.
Jordis was in my initial top four, with some dark horse potential. She started great, but her last few weeks she choked more than the New York Yankees.
I expected Suzie to go much lower. Seventh, in fact. But she's learned to perform (not just sing) and she "deserves" to be in the top four.
So after eliminating minorities the last four weeks, we're down to three who had a realistic shot to begin with. They're white, and they're male. Even if you could somehow get rid of racism and sexism, there's the fact that Michael Hutchence, like most rock lead singers, was a white male.
I'd put money on JD, even though I like him least. He just fits so much better (more than Marty, and most definitely more than my favorite Mig). In the end, I think the reality aspect will/should outweigh the TV aspect. Which really defeats the whole purpose of the whole voting concept, but we already knew that from the start, didn't we?.
Anyway I just wanted to share. It's I think only the third show in the last few years that I've been patient enough to wait for every week (24, and CSI). I've even downloaded all the songs (original artist's version), and there was a time five of the six CD slots in my car were songs from the show. I even burned the songs I don't like like Hoobastank! Sometimes I think about downloading the versions they sing in the competition, but I tell myself that would be too hardcore. To think I can't even name an INXS song (although after lookin at the playlist, you get the idea)!
In excess,
D.
