A trubute to John mayer and XKCD

Above is a graph depicting several quotable scenarios and where they rate on the "Racist" vs "Stupid" scale. (Click for a zoom view) Now, one can say that all racist comments are stupid (and yes, they are) but what I'm trying to reflect in this graph is that the quote is originating from a place of "Foot in mouth", and not "I hate people of this color."

The latest gaff from John Mayer has prompted me to crate this graph explaining the situation of his words in reference to many other quotes. See, sometimes a celebrity says something out of true ignorant, malicious hatred of people of another race. OTHER times they say things because their brains aren't working. Are their words ignorant and harmful? Of course! But the label of "racist" shouldn't be as easily applied. It still should, but the glue shouldn't stick as hard. I honestly believe the "N****r pass" quote came from a place of ego and attempt at wit. He wanted to be like "look at me, I'm so cool I can throw that word around" when in reality he can't. Nobody white ever can. He only went on to make things worse when talking about how he's not attracted to black women (even though he thinks he should be.) Anyway, open letter to John: "In the future, if someone asks you for an interview you say NO! If they ask you why not, you say 'because I'm an idiot and stupid things fall out of my mouth.' Other than that, just keep playin... (Guitar, that is!)"
