I'm baaaaaaaaack...

...in black. Anyway. This was a long six days, as expected. As some of you know, I spent this past week in University Hospital to have some extended monitored EEG testing done. I ended up getting taken off all my medication and being sleep-deprived on certain nights in the hopes of inducing some seizures. And of course I was monitored via video and audio at all times, as well as being attached to this 20-foot leash at all moments. But it's cool, I've done it before. No harm done. I did end up having three solid seizures and maybe a fourth smaller one. It's kind of weird waking up and realizing there are certain things around you different, such as parts of the bed rails being up or down (where they were or were not before). From the best I can tell, they got enough information to discuss things. The entire purpose of this week was to figure out which part of my brain the seizures are originating and therefore discuss if a second surgery to eliminate these seizures altogether is possible. They even had my mom and Julie, who have both witnessed quite a few of my seizures, come up to take a look at the recorded video of the seizures I had there to confirm that's how I normally am. The doctor I was consulting with all week (who happens to wear a really goofy bow tie) says he's "cautiously optimistic." Whatever the hell that means. Last year we removed a portion of my right temporal lobe (sort of above and behind the right ear) that they felt the seizures were coming from and now it appears they are originating from the area right behind that. By "behind", I mean deeper behind the lobe. So he doesn't want to say that part of the brain is useless, but if we are going to have a surgery on the brain, we'd like it to be there. Basically where we stand at this point is that they're going to discuss it at their conference and get back to me.

There was only a couple positives to the six-day stay though. There was a couple of cute nurses. Only cute, nothing to get too excited about. They were friendly too. I'm just glad I didn't make the same mistake I did last time, when I did this over at Children's. I had forgotten I was being monitored via audio and made some comment about one of the nurses being hot. Ooops. I had my own room this time, as opposed to sharing it with someone else that would be shaking the entire time. I could have anyone bring me whatever food or drink I wanted. Although I don't think alcohol would've been appropriate. But now that I think about it, maybe I should've. Alcohol can induce seizures. University Hospital has absolutely horrible food, so I made damn sure to either sleep through my meals and just not eat or have someone else bring me food to replace those disgraceful excuses for meals.

I think that pretty much explains what went down this past week. They suggested I don't go back to work right away. So I made arrangements with work through Sunday and will start again Monday. I don't even care anymore about people asking questions or anything, so fire away. Peace out!
