Caffeine addiction

Oooooooo, gods but a double espresso with a shot of Vandermint and a tablesspoon of brown sugar does the trick.
sigh
I quit caffiene on my own back in the mid 80s when I was very physically active and lifting weights. It just didn't work for me. Gave me jitters. Then I happened to join a religious organization that forbids it and went totally without for ten years. After leaving the Hare Krishna temple in '96 I held out for a few years. I found the buzz unpleasant and it kept me awake. I've always loved the smell of coffee tho'.

Got a job at a computer company that ran on caffeine and painkillers. Yup, the medicine chest was next to the soda fridge. All free. I held out for a while, drinking the occasional Fresca, but Diet Dr. Pepper quickly became my downfall. By the time they laid me off in April of '03, I was drinking 4-6 per day. Before 2 pm because it still keeps me up.

Over the last year I've been drinking a half pot of coffee every morning until sometime in June when I got inspired to do a weeklong juice fast. I quit caffeine, endured the withdrawal headache and stowed away the coffee machine. But then some kind of perverse desire had me take out the espresso machine and give it a whirl now and then. It's so hard to get going some mornings. Shit! Nearly every morning. Especially mornings like these where I hardly slept at all in the bed where I was petsitting, and I've got a full fucking day ahead.

So now, I'm not drinking it every morning, but I can't quite give it up.
