You may or may not know that I knit, something that I find relaxing and fun to do sneakily at work during my spare time. What with the cold, long winter we've had this year in Maine, I've managed to get a LOT of things completed. Here's just a few:
My third official knitted woolen hat that I just completed last night. In (dis)honor of the Comment Strike I've titled this one Boycott Beanie in Blue and Black (Oooo. The cheesy alliteration!), where you can also see my HUGE, pumpkin-sized head and scraggly, uncombed hair.
I completed these cozy arm warmers last autumn. Modeled sorta-kinda on what I like to call the
Louis sleeves, they are made of 100% alpaca wool and the yarn was, in retrospect, a complete pain to work with due to the "fingering" being far too wispy and slippery.
The arm warmers are supposed to stretch up and over the elbow but I much prefer the scrunchy look. (For those that are wondering, I used my kitchen drapes as a backdrop.)
A braided scarf made from 50/50 wool/alpaca that is sooo very soft and warm and has a nice "hanging" weight to it. You can't really tell in the pic, but the yarn has flecks of blue and yellow amongst the green.
An inset of the repeating cable pattern. Yeah, this one gave my fledgling cabling-without-a-needle skills a real workout.
