I initially resisted jumping into the fray with the Beeb's
Sherlock series, mainly because I always found Razzle Backbone Basil Rathbone's big screen take on the sleuth and the other Holmes incarnation on PBS's Mystery! dead boring. However, I happened to catch said programme the other night and was hooked. It's edgy and brilliant and thoroughly modern and breathes new life into the work.
And really, with Holmes played by an actor named Benedict Cumberbatch, and created/produced by Steven Moffat of Doctor Who fame, how could you go wrong?
You can't.
In other news, I've decided to again knit hats (and possibly scarves, but I'm thinking hats only this year because they are less time-consuming) to donate to homeless shelters in the region via my local public library. I managed to catch the deadline date - Dec. 10 - running across the electronic announcement board outside of said library yesterday morning, and I can definitely make the deadline and use up some of that bargain stash yarn banging around in the process.
