Tarot: now with the "Transformational Tarot" by Arnell Ando

Apr 15, 2007 19:50

I've had a copy of an earlier edition of Arnell Ando's "Transformational Tarot" and have previously only worked with the cards as a guide for meditation. I decided to utilize the deck for reading purposes for live journal since the images are already available to link to on the web. It was a practical choice because I have a solid two weeks left of unpacking and I prefer to be focused and finish before the weather becomes more apparent of April. By then it will be May. I have been wanting to become more familar with the deck for awhile. It's a favorite of chelsearoad and superplin whose thoughts I am looking forward to hearing since they have both had many connective experiences when the cards decidedly spoke to them.

It can be beneficial to pull a card when beginning to work with a new deck to ask what it has to teach.

My first thoughts in viewing the Moon card in the Transformational is how much it reminds me of The High Priestess. The energy of the Moon here is calm and yin. The framework of lace at the sides makes the connection with the pillars in the High Priestess. I have some trouble with the standard though often disparaged negative associations with the Moon card: hidden enemies, illusions, falsehoods, anxiety. As a feminist, I mainly read the card with respect to the positive correspondences. Here, I see emergence of cycles, third eye chakra, waters of creation, power of the tides/nature, meditation, and illumination of shadow.

This card is so beautiful in relation to what I have been feeling and working on. The idea of cycles is of deep importance to me. My creativity originates from a feminine perspective. Inspiration is something I channel. I am very clear, thankful and humble in my understanding that my gifts are what I access and not what I own. Inspiration is a borrowed necessity. That is why so many creative people go through periods of inactivity or switch mediums. For me, last year when I wasn't working on my book, I was making perfume blends. I was another way to access the originative principal, exemplified by the sea. What is the Moon if not the Muse? I am also being told that cycles have their time, to recognize and to wait for the proper instance and to understand the tide is in motion. What I need is accessible and on it's way into being.

I wanted to know more about the cycles that the deck would help me reveal.

I certainly have the cat, the crystal ball and the cards with all three categories approaching excess. Perhaps this is the reason I am here, dwelling in a place that has more quiet and far more privacy than where I resided a few months ago is to give the High Priestess her due. There is little distraction here and once the preparations are in place, I will be able to be far more open to her energy. It's something I consider every day. As an aside, the colors of the room in the card, burgundy and blue match the decor in the room I am setting up for ritual and meditation.

I feel like the Tarot is blowing me a kiss.
