The search for JBC issue #24

Jan 19, 2007 00:53

I've been spending the last couple of days (back to school), searching for an issue of an academic journal. Libraries that DO carry the title don't carry it completely. The library at my university only carries (for some ridiculous reason) a few from the 70's, and the ones from this century (2003 on). What the heck happened to the 20 some years' issues? Interlibrary loans, which has helped me quite a bit in the past, is sucking right now. No institution seems to carry volume 24... what the heck is wrong with people/libraries and their reason for inconsistencies!?

This lead me to find Worldcat (www.worldcat.org), which is kind of neat. It lets you know which libraries in the world (of it's growing database; it's still in beta mode right now), hold the title you're looking for. If it's a journal, it has details about which issues they have, and whether it's old enough to be on microfilm.

I'm down to one library some 9 hours away from where I am right now. I just hope the request goes through.
