It's the same Christopher. All the Chrestomanci books are about the same Christopher, m'dear.
"Northanger Abbey" was a parody of gothic novels. Austen's quite readable, I think, but also typical of the Regency style. "Silver Chair" is my favourite Narnia book; there's a sort of darkness underneath it, but it's very tightly controlled in a way that it wasn't in LWW or DT.
Silver Chair was possibly my second favourite. The film was what encouraged me to start the series in the first place; so the second book easily became my favourite. I didn't think about the "darkness" aspect of it, although I thought the Dawn Treader was the worst. Each time they went some where new, I thought we'd be introduced to a new way of dying.
Ah, seriously?? I never got that impression, but then again, I never really thought about it! The more you mention about it, the more I want to find the book. Whether they took it with or without her permission... I don't know if it would make a difference. (If they asked, would she have said no? If she said no, would they have stolen it anyway?) I think either way, she doesn't seem to get as much credit as she deserves, since her pictures proved it. 8D;; Thanks for the rec on Marie Curie, I'll keep that in mind!
I have only two Chrestomanci books to reference from so far ^^; but I will definitely check out more. I enjoyed Christopher's Fate much more than I did, Witch Weekly-- possibly because his character was so fun! and the book had more of him. I don't think my reviews was done as well as I liked, but I like to throw my thoughts around to others who might have read the same books.
The "almost wilfully unsexy" comment seems to me, so out of the blue! I forget sometimes, how males tend to have a higher ego back then.
I have so many books I've been wanting to read, I haven't thought about which Chrestomanci books to read next. ^^; Originally, I thought I'd be able to fit in more this summer, but it's already August... I'll definitely check that out at the library soon, since you spoke so highly of it.
