WEBSITES:
Most of the following will have to wait until I make the time to think it all through:

1. Scan/Upload clippings and other articles:
2. Reduce the overall number of files:
3. Sort out the eFiction archives:
4. Make sites mobile friendly:
5. Add items to empty albums:

Please remember to check out the GALLERY and FICTION archives for any new items/stories posted as I don't tend to change the website UPDATE pages for these.

BOOKS/FAN STUFF **** POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT ****
FANFICTION: Not much this week

BOOKS: I have not yet started Surviving the Evacuation Part 9: Ireland by Frank Tayell.

----------------------------
MOVIES and FANVIDS **** POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT ****

I've decided to put anything I watch under a cut so no-one gets unintentionally spoiled, plus it means I can be more open about what I viewed :)

MOVIES: None this week

Lake Placid vs Anaconda: And I still absolutely ADORE Yancy Butler's character, Reba. Some great moments in this black humor creature feature :) This time scientists playing around with genetics want to use the giant crocodile DNA spliced with their large anaconda. The snake gets loose after an accident in the mobile lab, and some of the crocs escape from the preserve and go looking for a tasty (human) snack. Mayhem ensues!

FANVIDS: None this week

TV SHOWS **** POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT ****

Call the Midwife: For a horrible moment I thought they were going to kill off a favorite character! I knew something bad was going to happen as soon as Fred cut himself on dirty metal in the garden. A lot of people are not aware that tetanus shots tend to only be effective for ten years and health professionals recommended a booster if you cut yourself with something dirty and your last booster was over 5 years ago. Although they also say if you had had 5+ boosters over a lifetime then that might be sufficient. I was so glad Violet carried on and became the new Mayor of Tower Hamlets. Loved 'Sir Matthew' standing in for Fred as Violet's friend, especially his words to that arrogant slum lord who was standing in the mayoral race against Violet :)

Handmade - Britain's Best Woodworker: This is a show where woodworkers display their wood carving, creation and designing skills. We started on Season 1 and have watched 4 episodes so far. In the first episode the object was to build a comfortable and designer bed. Some of the pieces were gorgeous or had amazing potential if they could have spent more time - they are given TWO DAYS. The one that came bottom was definitely deserving. On paper it looked like it could be interesting but the woodworker spent too much time merely building the equivalent of a train sleeper surrounded box (similar to seen in garden features) that was too deep so it was difficult to get in and out of the bed, and the ornate bulrushes etc that should have given it life were underwhelming :(

In the second episode they made a dollhouse and the winner (the Lighthouse) was well deserved. I liked Joe's modern approach even though it wasn't completed because he wasted so much time on the floor to ceiling windows. I sort of agreed with the loser as he spent to much time being gimmicky instead of focusing on making his dollhouse look more than a couple of boxes stacked. some of the others were not memorable for the same reason.

The third episode was making a chair and Joe's was simple looking but very modern and the judges found it comfortable. Misti's 'Game of Thrones' chair was lovely. The only thing I disliked about it were the feet. Two woodworkers were eliminated this week and while I agree with one - the 'lady' deckchair looked cumbersome and uncomfortable - I think the other elimination was questionable. It looked unique and interesting and its only true problem was it was made to fit only certain body types. Perhaps if the back supports had been adjustable?

The 4th episode was all about carving a real looking animal. Misti's zebra was amazing. So well designed and constructed it looked like a work of art. I would have that in my home! Personally I really liked the Boxer dog as it had such great character. Joe and Billy failed to complete their animals and in the end it came to what the judges preferred - a realistic face or ass! I like Billy but personally I thought the Boxer Dog looked better.

Misti is proving someone to watch because even though he is self-confessed as not being a woodworker and learning on the job, his design combined with his growing woodworking skills are proving to be excellent.

The Great Pottery Throwdown: Watched two episodes - one with the Gluggle Jugs and the other, Staffordshire flatback. Gluggle Jugs are fish shaped jugs that have a handle shaped so it traps air and causes the water to gluggle when poured, giving the jug its name. I like most of the ones created. Sadly one of the jugs leaked so it was an automatic loser, which is a shame as it looked nice. The Staffordshire flatback are shelf ornaments that have an ornate front but a flat back so it can sit tight against the wall. Again, some were so good and I could see myself buying that Christmas piece as I do like silly ornamental Christmas ornaments. I liked the winning piece too and agree with this week's elimination. It was to tell a lovely story but failed to deliver. Next episode airs this evening.
