WEBSITES: - Nothing this week

Most of the following will have to wait until I make the time to think it all through.

1. Scan/Upload clippings and other articles: I have folders containing stuff to upload and lots of magazine articles I found when going through all my old magazines that I want to scan/upload eventually.

2. Reduce the overall number of files: I need to let go of ONE of the web spaces to save some money in future. It's another major undertaking as it will be a time consuming task. This must be a priority as money is going to get tight soon! I have at least a year's grace in which to work on this, but time does seem to go so quickly. I noticed a lot of the existing screen caps are old and small so I may re-do them - where it is beneficial. STILL DONE NOTHING AND NEXT YEARLY PAYMENT DUE SOON! I will have to make this a priority next year.

3. Sort out the eFiction archives: Nothing done this week. All my own stories were uploaded to AO3 years ago. What remains are stories written by other fans, and I know a few have moved on to new fandoms - or sadly passed on. Doing this will help bring down the number of files on the sites substantially too.

4. Make sites mobile friendly: Nothing this week

5. Add items to empty albums: Nothing this week

Please remember to check out the GALLERY and FICTION archives for any new items/stories posted as I don't tend to change the website UPDATE pages for these.

BOOKS/FAN STUFF **** POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT ****

FANFICTION: Still slowly reading through all The Old Guard Joe/Nicky stories.

BOOKS: Still not started on Surviving the Evacuation book 7 by Frank Tayell.

TV SHOWS and MOVIES **** POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT ****

MOVIES:

Edge of Tomorrow: I kept seeing a TV ad that used the same song from the end credits of this movie (Love me Again by John Newman), and every time it reminded me of this movie I wanted to go watch it... so eventually I did! This is a Tom Cruise movie... a sort of alien apocalyptic groundhog day, and I enjoyed watching it again for some of the humor as well as the bittersweet moments and science fiction. And of course in the end he and Rita finally succeed at beating the alien at its own game and save the human race... though no one other than Bill will ever truly know what they did/sacrificed over and over to get there. Rita will believe him though.

Die Hard: It's a Christmas movie! My DVD copy is starting to look a little worn and/or the image is not as clean as modern movies. Still it was fun to watch with some brilliant one-liners and a truly psychopathic villain who acts all charming but it cold-hearted and has no conscience at all. It is a little cliche too with the estranged couple on the verge of separation/divorce getting back together... and we only know it won't last due to the next movies in the franchise. They did try to address some of the reasons why their marriage was failing but nothing was really resolved. Still, no one actually watches this movie for the romance anyway :D

AVATAR: The Way of Water: Actually went to a theater to see this. I'd not been to the one in the nearby town before and it was REALLY comfortable with ample space, recliner seats, and no one stuck right in front so all you can see of the screen is around their head! Yep, the theater in my old town was AWFUL. Will definitely go again. As for the movie - it was good but definitely had 'middle movie' vibes. I loved all the underwater scenes with all the new Pandora fauna/flora. The story was mostly focused on the next (teen) generation of the Sully family and it had some good moments overall. Lots of sad moments too. I'm hoping we don't have to wait 5 years for the next part!

Grindhouse: Planet Terror: I decided to refresh my memory of this movie before writing a quick story. Overall it was as B-movie cheesy as I recalled - intentionally so! Some great 'almost' cameos with Bruce Willis and Tarrantino. Gruesome looking and violent but the cheesiness made it feel less so... if that makes any sense. Michael Biehn and Jeff Fahey were great as brothers feuding over the secret family recipe for BBQ sauce :)

FANVIDS: Nothing this week

******************

TV SHOWS:

Blood: I started watching this Korean vampire drama where vampirism is actually a virus infection with no known cure. It's all about a brilliant young surgeon who is infected but trying to live in the human world. He was born infected and his parents were trying to find a cure. However, other vampires don't see it the same way, believing it makes them superior to humans. The only rule is to not drink fresh blood as that has led to their kind being hunted down and slaughtered in the past. I've seen about 6 episodes out of 20 and it is not bad so far.

Grand Designs: I've watched a lot of 'reality show' TV these past two weeks as with everyone in the household unwell, this seemed to be one program neither of us minded watching together. We mostly watched episodes where these grand homes are revisited years later to see if they were ever completed. Most of them are stunning in their own way and only one was a sad, cautionery tale where the costs rose so high the person ended up having to sell it to pay back his debts rather than live in his dream home. Sad that he couldn't enjoy what he had designed and created.

Outcast: Not watched any new episodes this week. I keep forgetting I have more and end up watching other stuff instead.
