WEBSITES:

Nothing this week.

Still To do - most of these will have to wait until I have far more free time to think it all through

1. Scan/Upload clippings and other articles - Nothing done this week.

2. Make sites mobile friendly - no progress but as this is a major site restructure, I won't start this until I know what I need to do! It will require substantial free time to figure out what is required and learn how to code it.

3. Reduce the overall number of files - so I can let go of ONE of the web spaces and save some money in future. It's another major undertaking and will be a time consuming task. This must be a priority as money is going to get tight soon! I have at least a year's grace in which to work on this.

4. Sort out the eFiction archives - Nothing done this week but I may approach AO3 about taking them on once I have some free time to go through everything.

5. Update the TV/Movie lists to add new TV/movie appearances - This requires creating new pages, with graphics and links. Nothing done this week and I know I have fallen WAY behind on all the sites. I'll likely do a catch-up spree soon :)

Please remember to check out the gallery and fiction archives for any new items/stories posted as I don't tend to change the website UPDATE pages for these.

Books/Fanfiction **** POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT ****

FANFICTION: Still slowly reading The Old Guard Joe/Nicky stories. I am definitely not getting anywhere as so many new stories are being added daily - not that I'm complaining!

BOOKS: Still not started on Surviving the Evacuation book 7 by Frank Tayell because I'm still too busy reading fanfic :)

TV SHOWS and MOVIES: **** POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT ****

MOVIES:

Ad Astra: This Brad Pitt movie sounded really interesting so I watched it. It was a strangely paced movie that never felt rushed despite a few good action sequences, possibly due to the narration that reminded me a lot of Blade Runner. Overall I liked the movie. It's about a man who is sent on a mission to contact his long-lost father who might be responsible for a series of cosmic disturbances that are threatening all life on Earth.

The Tomorrow War: This was a good movie that I would have enjoyed a LOT more if my Amazon Prime streaming had not kept cutting out. Sometimes I only saw 20 seconds of movie at a time with a minute of buffering in between! So frustrating and there is nothing I can do about it due to the sad state of the internet in rural UK. The story is about a group of soldiers coming back to warn Earth of an alien invasion - a war they are losing. They need soldiers from the present to aid them in the future and thousands are 'drafted', most of them dying. Chris Pratt plays a father and ex-military who is jumped into the future and helps find a toxin that he brings back so it can be manufactured in our time while there are resources still available. However, he and a few others realize where the aliens originated and decide to stop the war before it can begin.

FANVIDS: None to share this week.

******************

TV SHOWS:

9-1-1: No Eddie this week but it was nice to see Chim, and I was glad he could save that baby. In the right place at the right time! Glad Harry was finally able to go home, though I'm sure it was Det. Ransone who was able to help him most because they both went through a similar trauma at that man's hands. As Ransone said, 'Jeffrey?' was in his home, wearing his clothes, and eating his food while Ransone was fighting for his life in hospital after having his throat cut. Two different violations, both equally awful.

Chicago Med: Well, I can recall seeing the episode but not much is standing out except for Charles doing a psych eval on a police friend of one of the new doctors and decided the man was dangerous and paranoid, leading to a frightening confrontation. Ethan is determined to help a patient avoid major surgery and hurts himself in the process.

Day of the Dead: Pretty good episode with some 'fun' scenes. Of course no one believes it could be zombies until they see people getting attacked and eaten! I caught the next episode too with the zombies attacking the wedding party - and them finally believing the doctor/groom was telling the truth. I like Cameron and Luke starting to rebuild their former friendship - so sad about Cameron's dad but we knew he wasn't going to make it from the opening scene of the very first episode!

Endeavour: still to watch when 'N' is in the mood

Fear the Walking Dead: This week's episode spotlighted Dwight and Sherry and introduced Micky, who is searching for her husband.Strand wants Micky returned to the tower, likely he wants to find out how she escaped through the zombies and then he will throw her off the tower like he did with that younger guy. Victor is really shaping up as the bad guy now, to rival Negan, by having that family murdered just to get back at Dwight and Sherry for choosing Morgan over him. This episode had some good zombie moments

Great British Bake-off: Chigs did extremely well and deserved his Star Baker. Lizzie left this week despite doing an excellent showstopper. Not enough to save herself in a week where everyone did well int he showstopper apart from Guiseppe, but he did well on the signature and technical.

Heroes: Not seen any episodes this week

Invasion: Five extremely good episodes depicting the start of an alien invasion by taking out communications and fostering fear. Sadly my copies were missing the subtitle track for the Japanese scenes. I could work out some of what was happening but ended up fast-forwarding through those scenes to relevant moments. The individuals followed were interesting and all added pieces to the puzzle, ending with a world-wide address from the US president that the Earth is under attack. Also, my hopes for more were dashed as the series was canceled just as it was hotting up.

La Brea: Bit of an exposition episode though not a whole lot of questions were answered. I like Ty with Paara, talking about the Sky People who have been coming there for as long as she knows. I'm assuming one group taught her people English. I do wonder if people arrive 'out of time' a little like in Primeval, so modern people could have arrived earlier than those from an earlier century. It's a thought.

New Amsterdam: The ransomware thing was just awful and gave Veronica exactly what she needed to push through her own agenda for budget cuts. I felt so sorry for Max having to put the lives of patients before friends and colleagues. I am really hoping it gets turned around and they get rid of her and get back to what they do so well - saving lives. It's hard to know if that can happen, and if anything will ever be the same again for any of them. As much as I hated the thought of Rynolds, Bloom and Iggy beign fired, I hated seeing others fired in their place.

NCIS: It was an okay episode though the case was very much overshadowed by the silly mother-in-law thing going on. I guess with only 42+ minutes of episode and so much spent on silliness there was not enough time to write a decent script for the murder so there were too many coincidences to give them a break in the case. Despite that I loved seeing Tim and Delilah together :)

RuPaul's Drag Race UK: Scarlett couldn't save herself this week after a brilliant lip sync by Vanity. It was an interesting challenge with them havign very little time between challenges. I agreed that Scarlett and Krystal played it safe with little black dresses. Kitty finally got her coveted RuPeter Badge.

Shetland: I am waiting until I have all the episodes before watching this. I hope it's as good as previous seasons :)

The Good Doctor: No episode last week

The Walking Dead: World Beyond: (1) I have to admit I felt sadder for the rat than for what happened to that doctor even though it was a terrible way to go. What the Civil Republic Military is planning to do is awful - a form of genocide - and they have to be stopped. (2) I felt so sorry for Indira's people being pulled into this but it was only a matter of time anyway. I'm glad Bennett has escaped with all the scientists after erasing and destroying all the years of research. Jadis is a driven woman takign a short-sighted approach as all that data liely resides in the heads of those scientists and now she wants some of them killed. I hope they can save Dennis after he was shot helpign to save Indira's people. Only 2 episodes left.
