WEBSITES:

Still To do - most of these will have to wait until I have far more free time to think it all through.

1. Scan/Upload clippings and other articles - Nothing done this week

2. Make sites mobile friendly - no progress but as this is a major site restructure, I won't start this until I know what I need to do! It will require some free time to find out what is required and to learn how to code it.

3. Reduce the overall number of files - so I can let go of ONE of the web spaces and save some money. Another major undertaking as it will be a time consuming task.

4. Sort out the eFiction archives - Nothing done this week

5. Update the TV/Movie lists to add new TV/movie appearances - This requires creating new pages, with graphics and links. Nothing done this week

6. Update COPPERMINE art gallery software to latest version - I didn't find time last week but plan to do the update this coming week

Please remember to check out the gallery and fiction archives for any new items/stories posted as I don't tend to change the website UPDATE pages for these.

Books/Fanfiction **** POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT ****

FANFICTION: And I am still reading The Old Guard Joe/Nicky stories. There's rarely been a bad one.

I did read one AU story that was really good except for a single paragraph that kind of marred the whole story for me. In the story Nicky was brilliant at his job, and Joe excellent at art. One day Joe had to cover for Nicky BUT he was so exceptional at doing Nicky's job that it made Nicky look stupid and uneducated in comparison - completely at odds with how the writer had described Nicky's ability throughout the rest of the story. At first I wondered if the writer had a thing about Joe, but the story was focused more on Nicky... and then it clicked. The writer had turned Joe into a self-insert. Really off-putting :(

BOOKS: Still not started on Surviving the Evacuation book 7 by Frank Tayell :)

TV SHOWS and MOVIES: **** POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT ****

MOVIES: nothing this week

******************

TV SHOWS:

9.1.1: I wasn't sure what to make of this treasure hunt episode. Wasn't keen on it to start with and, overall, it was.... okay. It had a few fun moments but this sort of story isn't a favorite for me.

9.1.1. Lone Star: Once more the TK/Carlos moments saved the episode... so cute! Glad Owen and the rest realized the danger TK and Carlos were in because of the arsonist wanting revenge on both their dads.

Call the Midwife: Very topical issue in this episode dealing with 'Gay Conversion Therapy'. The episode takes place in 1966, one year before the law making homosexuality illegal (imprisonment or chemical castration) was repealed. I really like watching this show for the great discussions I have with my younger D. At the moment the UK parliament is considering a law to ban all forms of Gay Conversion Therapy (256,000 signatures on a petition to ban it). Of course certain religious groups are appealing against it because they are guilty of using such methods. Personally, it shouldn't need an explicit law. It ought to be covered under HATE CRIME.

Chicago Med: Someone put a secret in Fandomsecrets about how much they dislike how most (if not all) of the doctors - especially Will and Natalie - are constantly breaking rules and yet never get more than a tiny slap on the wrist. I understand their sentiment entirely as it is one of my pet peeves with this show. Once again this week we have Will and Natalie breaking codes of ethics, as well as Dean drugging a guy so he could usurp the man's rights, and of course Maggie convincing an impressionable student doctor to take unwarranted risks with the life of a patient. This is the kind of show that will make people be AFRAID of going into hospital!

Fear the Walking Dead: This was really sad, that Grace had been hallucinating what she believed was her death only to realize it was all just an hallucination/dream. So sad she lost the baby, and now Morgan has also lost the key that means so much to the current 'bad guys'. I'm an episode behind at the moment. Hopefully I will catch up tomorrow evening.

NCIS: Awww... Gibbs has given away his newest best friend... his dog :( I'm glad the boy was able to see beyond his uncle's crimes to offer to give bone marrow to his sick cousin.

New Amsterdam: Another good episode. I'm glad Reynolds asked for forgiveness for the father who left his kid in the car. Anyone who is a parent has done something stupid at least once that they instantly regret. We are only human after all. Poor Max trying to solve climate change all by himself, and yes, the moral is that we all have to accept some discomfort if we are to make a difference.

The Good Doctor: This was so sad with Leah losing the baby, and poor Shawn unable to do anything to prevent it. Unlike with Chicago Med, the young doctor who gave a DNR patient antibiotics was told pointedly NOT to confess to what he had done as he would be fired immediately. He was only saved because he truly understood the consequences of his actions for his patient by ignoring her rights, had full remorse for his actions, and was given an opportunity to make amends by promising her that he would help her navigate the system to apply for physician-assisted dying.

Trust: I finished watching this. It was a really good series with an excellent cast all round. There was only a single season of 10 episodes but it wrapped up the story line of the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III perfectly. The final episode showed the consequences, the ripples that came out of this event, that included the Italian kidnapping gang using the ransom money to build a port and become the biggest drug running mafia in Italy. There were so many tense moments throughout.
