lands_of_magic 2024 - R13
All remaining challenges for R13 have been posted and ALL challenges have been given an extension to AUG 23 to make the mod's life a LOT easier due to personal issues. I'm happy enough with that as I was desperately out of time for CH18 and was considering asking for an extension. As it is I had worked hard on CH18 and managed to get 4300 words written in ONE DAY - EIGHT ficlets forming a series. I might go back and write two more ficlets at a later date.
I made a start on CH15 by writing a story based on The Heart (TV 2023) and I made up the rest of the points with icons and sigtags from Advance Bravely (TV). CH22 was a choice game.

BOOKS/FAN STUFF **** POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT ****
FANFICTION: Still mostly The Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity stories this week but a few other fandoms too such as from Advance Bravely and Word of Honor.
BOOKS: And I still have Surviving the Evacuation Part 9: Ireland by Frank Tayell to make a start on reading but I've not been in the right frame of mind for zombie stories recently.

MOVIES: Nothing this week
FANVIDS: Nothing new this week
TV SHOWS:
Interview with the Vampire: I watched two episodes back to back dealing with the return of Lestat and the trial of Claudia and Louis. I did like that this version gave Madeleine a chance to live but she chose to die with Claudia rather than join the Paris coven. I love that it was Armand who saved Louis from instant death by using all his strength to mind control the human audience into giving a punishment of banishment rather than death, otherwise Louis would have died beside the other two. It was intriguing seeing all the past events from Lestat's point of view, especially as Louis became aware that his own view of those events was flawed in places. Lestat had to watch Claudia die, being the last sight she saw and he looked haunted rather than happy at the loss. The tension in these episodes was excellent.
Judge Dee's Mystery: Very good ending where he ended up having to kill Heiyan in front of Cao An and the estrangement it caused between them was really well done and resolved as they had to work on another case and save the life of a boy who was going to be a blood sacrifice on the full eclipse. Having to also find and save Cao An showed him their love was important to him. At the end of the series there was a trailer for a second season (I presume). I'll have to see if it was ever made and is available for viewing.
Mystic Pop-Up Bar:
cordivology recommended this one to me as I really like supernatural style shows like Hotel Del Luna. I'm around halfway through as there are only 12 episodes. So far it has been quite good with some fun moments and also some sad/tragic moments. The second half of the show looks like it may be gettign a little darker as it delves more into the past and the reason why she was punished with having to resolve 10,000 grudges.
The Walking Dead - The Ones Who Live: I need to watch this but have still not been in the mood for it as yet.
