Ah, it's finally starting to feel like fall! Thank you, thank you cold front.
Anyway, yesterday my sister (amiiro) left for Japan. So that day, my mom decides that she wants to send some cookies to the Japanese family that my sis will be staying with. Any normal person would go out and buy some cookies at Krogers, but of course, my family is not normal.
So my mom goes to the store, buys 3 packages of chocolate chips, a carton of eggs, a pack of butter, etc., and about one hour before we need to leave for the airport, we start making cookies. We use quite a bit of flour, almost all of the sugar, and the entire package of butter.
It's now about forty minutes before we need to leave. We get out three pans and start putting cookie dough on them, but we can only fit two in the oven at a time. So we put them in the oven and cook and cook and cook. Someone always has to be standing by the oven taking out cookies every five minutes, putting them on some foil, putting more cookie dough on the pan and putting it back in the oven. I'm pretty sure everyone got burnt at least three times.
Finally, all the dough is cooked leaving us with roughly five billion cookies. It's time to go, so my mom wraps the cookies in more foil and puts them in an enormous gift bag. My sis says that she's not taking that on the plane, and my mom says that it's okay; we'll put them in her backpack at the airport after she evens them out.
So of course there is a traffic jam and rain pours forth from the sky like some horrible sign of the apocalypse. We're at least an hour late. We rush to wait in the endless baggage checking/ticketing line, and go to the security gates where my sis has to go on her own. Is there some tearful goodbye? No, we spend our last moments together stuffing her backpack with crumbly cookies! Sigh.
Also, I got invited to go bowling today. Maybe I'll go, even though I haven't been bowling since I was four.
See ya.
