I'm now back in Boston and working my way back to health, although definitely not there yet.
I finally felt good enough to get out of bed on Monday afternoon, which is lucky given that I had to pack for my trip back, which was yesterday. Yesterday morning I felt worse again (the 6:00 am wake-up probably didn't help), but a little breakfast and coffee helped and I didn't feel too miserable during the trip back. I definitely felt weaker than normal, though. I kept having to put down my computer case! But the worst was my ears. I didn't realize I was particularly congested, but they got badly plugged up on the descents into Toronto and Boston, and have only unplugged in the past few hours. I think that has contributed to me not feeling as good today as I did yesterday - the brain-fog is dense! I also didn't sleep very well last night, although I slept in very late this morning. But in any case, I live.
Oh, and it appears that I didn't catch this from my mom, because she has it now. My dad also came down with it on Sunday. I think there is a special hell being prepared for me even now.

In more exciting news, Tyler Seguin, of the Boston Bruins, was on my flight from Toronto to Boston last night. I mean, Bruins D:< D:<, but on the other hand, NHL hockey! It's like Canada was starting to breathe again just as I was leaving. There were Luongo trade rumors on TSN in the airport (to which I respond NOOOOOOOOOO LUUUUUUUUUUU, but never mind)! Mah Canucks are gathering in Vancouver! The hockey blogs are worth reading again! Go Canucks!
But in double-extra exciting news, I also think I have a new tentative preliminary chapter outline for my dissertation to discuss with advisor R! She suggested that a plane trip was the perfect chunk of time to think about it, and she was so right. In fact, she was more right than she probably knew, because being in transit (even on a plane!) relaxes me enough to think calmly about things I'm anxious about. Ideas, yay! Even some ideas that arguably make Brittany the ideal place for my dissertation to examine (continuity of pre-eleventh century monastic possessions, hello cartulaire de Redon)! R wants some sort of paragraph-ish statement of what the thing is going to be about, so working that up is next. Once I escape from the brain-fog and get things set up for my course, I mean.
