This evening, my original plan was to write ALL the midterm exam ID term marking guides for the epic exam-marking session I'm having tomorrow, and then to make ALL THE EDITS to my lecture for Friday, and to real ALL THE PAGES in Mohawk Saint: Katherine Tekakwitha and the Jesuits in preparation for discussion on Monday, but that is not what I've done.
After I trudged home in my light fall trenchcoat in the nasty cold blowing snow (!!!) that totally wasn't even in the weather forecast this morning, I got my roommate to take my keys out of the lock because my hands were actually too numb to do it myself, and then I had eggs and toast for supper, as befitting the weather, and tea and some of
ladybird97's delicious brownies.
I have now done NONE OF THE THINGS I planned, but I have sent my mom ALL THE TEXTS telling her about the revolting development in today's weather, and signed up for grocery delivery and purchased ALL THE GROCERIES online for delivery tomorrow evening, including ALL THE VEGGIES, and ALL THE THINGS I've been putting off buying because they were too much to carry onto the bus, like ALL THE CABBAGE and ALL THE DRYER SHEETS. Since putting in my grocery order, I've also dedicated some time to cleaning up my room, including hanging up almost ALL THE CLOTHES, and once my second load comes out of the dryer, doing ALL THE LAUNDRY.
Then, I'm going to go to bed for ALL THE SLEEP, because between the election and my lecture-writing last night, I had almost NONE OF THE SLEEPS, although I was in bed for a couple of hours and may have spent most of it asleep for once.

Anyway, on the subject of the election, I must say that spending yesterday evening, my third Presidential election in the US, in CR's living room with a selection of like-minded friends from my programme (plus one adorable infant of like-minded friends from my programme), was awesome. As a non-US citizen, I find elections a little alienating, so it was very nice to get to share in the waiting, and the results-watching, and the cheering, and the drinking of champagne, with friends, and not have it feel like an anthropological study. Although I don't get any say in what the US does, and I don't think I ever will, I have pretty firmly yoked myself to the US for at least the next few years and potentially my entire career and future life, so it was nice that I could spend the election with friends who didn't question why I cared. And, given that I have probably yoked my potential future to this country, I'm also very happy at how the election turned out.
