The Rules:
1. People who have been tagged must write the answers on their blog and replace any question they dislike with a new, original question.
2. Tag six people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you.
This meme is not the boss of me. I hereby declare tagging exclusionary for the purposes of my LJ. Feel free to do the meme if you want!

01. Make a list of 5 things you can see without getting up.
My laptop sleeve
My feet
The kitchen stool I've got my feet propped up on
The January/February 2011 issue of Vegetarian Times
Roommate J's awesome carved wooden chest with the clawed feet and Chinese dragon panels
02. How do you style your hair?
Wash. Condition. Squeeze out water. Wrap in towel. Remove towel. Brush. Part. Scrunch. Shake. Get on with life. Smooth with water later in the day if frizzy or curls haven't formed nicely.
03. What are you wearing now?
The vintage green-and-orange dress I bought in Toronto in 2009, plus the usual undies, and happily bare feet and legs.
04. What's your occupation?
Graduate student in medieval history, sub-variety doctoral candidate, ABD.
05. What are you hearing right now?
Roommate J tapping her pen against her desk, distant car noises.
06. What's your favorite guilty pleasure treat?
Buying clothes on the internet seems to be the current winner in this category. Or maybe just buying clothes period.
07. Are you hungry?
Not really.
08. What's the most memorable thing someone's said to you this week?
Nothing comes directly to mind, although my discussion with Sally today of "Ceiling Mike C-" and "Ceiling Robin" and "Ceiling Bede" was pretty hilarious.
09. Dog person or cat person?
Dog-ish. I'd need a very different lifestyle for the spitz-type dogs I really want, though.
10. What song is currently stuck in your head?
This is the wrong moment for this question, because none. I therefore declare this my new, original question:
10. What songs are your current favorites?
Currently, Malicorne's simple but bitter anti-war folksong, "Le Prince d'Orange," and Alain Simon's "Le Pommier d'Or" and "Marie la Cordelière," both from Anne de Bretagne: Le Rock Opéra.
11. What was the last thing you bought?
Supper at Chipotle. Before that, a new notebook for my research-related scribblings, and notes on my reading.
12. If you could afford to go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I'd love to go to Australia and New Zealand, and maybe South America.
13. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
It's really hard to say, the academic job market being what it is. Done my dissertation, I hope! And in either a perfect world or a world of unemployment, back in Canada...
14. Last book you read?
Depending on how you define "read," either the chunk of Dorothy L. Sayers, Gaudy Night that I reread last night, or... actually, I don't remember what the last book I finished reading was. My academic priorities lately haven't involved much new reading.
15. What are you doing this weekend?
Hmm. I don't actually know yet, but I might take it off from doing work. Roommate J is having a patio-and-wine-and-conversation gathering in the driveway tomorrow, which I'm planning to attend, and I think I should make some yogurt and granola and attempt to get some summer meal-planning in hand, but I don't know what else.
16. If you could play any musical instrument, which one would you play?
Well, I miss playing the fiddle, and every once in a while I contemplate the piano. I also miss singing!
17. How are you?
Not too bad. A little worried about roommate J, a little worried about money, a little worried about France next year, a little sleepy...
18. What are you doing tomorrow?
Ideally, emailing people, planning my summer work schedule, and starting some reading, but if the week so far is any indication, more likely daydreaming and reading the internet. After that, drinking wine with roommate J and co. Also, hopefully I'll make it out running at some point.
19. What are you looking forward to the most?
Holy undefined time parameters, question! But I'm looking forward to Colgate Reunion, and the day that I have someplace to live in France this fall so I can start looking forward to living there, and to researching and writing my dissertation, although I'm sure it will involve plenty of anguish...
