My computer is making the bad noises again, so I'm about to unplug it and shut it down for the night. I'm increasingly worried that the problem is the power supply not the power cable, but that's difficult to say right now, since the power cable I'm using is my own potentially-faulty one.
In any case, what I wanted to say is that I arrived safely in Kalamazoo last night, after spending part of my trip sleeping, part of it writing a new introduction to my paper, and part of it talking myself out of my new introduction. Since I arrived, I've hung out with palaeography friend AM (who fed me luna bars and gluten-free cookies after I arrived too late for supper), slept, showered, scrounged coffee, worked on my paper, had lunch with AM and gone to her paper, worked on my paper more, gone grocery shopping and picked up supper at Panera with fellow medievalist grad student JK and her mom, talked briefly on the phone to ES, and worked more on my paper. I now have food, conditioner, plans to make plans to meet up with ES, and more than half a paper.
I am now touching all the fake wood veneer in the room in the hopes that things will keep looking up this way.
Also, K'zoo is way easier when you have a mobile phone, I'm just saying.
medievalist versus computer,
talking to medievalists,
paperspam,
