ACK! The US Dollar is PLUNGING against the Euro, and that is not good news for my US-funded travel expenditures! I AM ON A BUDGET HERE, WORLD ECONOMIES! The fact that the Canadian and US dollars are basically at parity, both against each other, and against the Euro, is really small consolation. I mean, unless I go on a wild book-buying spree (Monday's mini-book buying spree, for values of spree that equal one, notwithstanding) or otherwise shop madly, I'm pretty much all paid up for the rest of my time in Angers, and the rest of my budget is all available for this weekend in Paris with Marek for Canadian Thanksgiving, and more importantly, for my week of finally going to Brittany, but that doesn't mean I'm happy to see it shrinking! It wasn't that big to begin with!
Also, sink laundry. It seems to be the only way, unless I want to go and try and negotiate access to the laundry facilities that my residence possesses but which are kept locked and require a special key to open, and special tokens to operate, which can only be purchased at specific times, times which are different in every location they're posted. But my towel is starting to need washing, and it would be nice to be able to wash my jeans and pyjamas and my running clothes en masse, and maybe get them a little bit dry too. Maybe I'll try la laverie again tomorrow evening.
On the bright side, cartularies! And Paris the day after tomorrow, for exploration and hopefully also delicious food (I have yet to visit an actual restaurant since my arrival in France) with Marek! I can't, in other words, complain too volubly.
But now I have to go and scrub and rinse some socks.
