First of all, it's good to know that, although deodorant works its way to the outside of certain garments when they're left hanging in your closet for a year or so after losing a crucial button (that there never seems to be time to sew back on) and makes hideous white stains on them, it also comes off in the wash. I was worried it had either become fossilized in the fabric, or severely bleached it like it sometimes does. So that's a relief.
Second, I'm finished my marking! I actually managed a 48-hour turnover this semester, and my final grades are all submitted to and discussed with Prof S, and awaiting the moment when he uploads them. Yay! Inevitable students complaining about their grades asid, so, most likely, ends my undistinguished three-year career as a TA. Hopefully when I return to teaching in two years (most likely as a teaching fellow), I will have come up with a new and more successful approach to it.
Third, I was going to talk about food and review my favorite food blogs this evening, but after I had my delicious supper of boiled new potatoes, steamed green beans, and roasted asparagus, I decided to sit down on the big squishy couch in the living room. The moment I sat down was the moment that last night's late-night grading session caught up with me. I only got about five hours of sleep, since I had to get up bright and early this morning to give my last make-up final. As it was, I dozed for half an hour past my alarm and barely made it on time. All this is to say that I'll talk about food later, maybe tomorrow.
I will say, though, that in the next few days I'm planning to bake a sort of asparagus-feta tart on homemade focaccia with garlic, olive oil, and spices. I went to Whole Paycheck in Brookline and gathered the ingredients today. I'm very excited! I'll probably make it on Wednesday, since fellow TA JK has invited me to have supper at his place with he and his wife tomorrow. He suggested that he's going to make some kind of grilled portobello mushroom, which I'm also looking forward to. The one issue is, of course, what to wear...
Finally, I ordered
these measuring cups in the shape of matryoshka dolls. I saw a link to them, and I had to. Maybe it's all this freedom from grading going to my head, but MATRYOSHKA MEASURING CUPS. Horribly impractical, no doubt, since they don't have handles, but AWESOME NEVERTHELESS.
