Whoa. I just added it all up and discovered that so far, my preparation for comps has included approximately 20 000 words of writeups. For comparative purposes, my senior thesis was a very modest 12 995 words. And I'm not done!
Hopefully I'll have time to reread them all before comps.
I should note that I've also written approximately 1500 words of dissertation proposal, including the first couple of paragraphs of my historiography section. I hope I didn't wade too deeply into anti-French polemic in the process...
Anyway, I'm feeling much more mentally composed and less prepared to lift cars off babies with the strength of my adrenaline-laced panic than I was earlier. Happily.
Now I'm going off to bed with Marie de France and her lais. ORGY! BAD PUN!
