So, I stumbled across this while looking at Inauguration pictures on MSNBC, which just goes to prove that I should not internet-stalk the Obamas. I was so outraged that I have to post the link. Apparently the Today Show gives a makeover every week to one not-so-lucky member of the crowd. And they're terrible! I haven't seen anyone so far who looks better in their "after" picture. OMG.

Here. See? TRAVESTY. Nice, normal-looking people getting on the wrong side of hair dryers, mousse, and pounds and pounds of makeup. The same makeup every time. And the same hair colour most of the time. Horrible! And the commentary is drivel too.

Seriously, if they're going to insist on giving people makeovers, they should at least make them good makeovers. And maybe PUT DOWN THE DAMNED BLUE EYESHADOW AND BACK AWAY SLOWLY.

Ahem.

In other news, I had my first discussion sections of the semester today, and I feel sorry for my students. Today was hard on them and it wasn't their fault. It was, however, a valuable learning experience for me as to how to deal with huge numbers of primary source readings with them, not to mention how to incorporate what Prof S wants us to cover into what I actually end up doing. More musings on that later, maybe. Right now I'm going to take myself and my hair which I dyed once and will never dye again off to bed.

And speaking of teh hair, it's now down to the bottom of my shoulder blades. It could probably use a little trim for split ends, but otherwise I'm quite enjoying it long and I'm planning to leave it alone and see what it does if I leave it to its own devices for a while longer.
