There's no point in putting this spoiler behind a cut, it's too big to contain! TVLine gave us the scoop tonight, and Michael Rosenbaum himself confirmed it on Twitter:
You know what's funny? I'm actually not that concerned about it. As soon as I heard Beeman would be back I was like, "Oh well...that solves that problem. He'll keep it Clark-centric."
I was actually going to write a post about this on my own journal at some point today or tomorrow. I truly do think (or at least hope) that no matter what happens the finale is going to stay Clark-centric. Clark's relationships with Lex and Lois are the defining relationships of the Superman mythos. And I don't think the fans of those characters need to worry about either character being pushed aside for the other in the finale. And I say that as someone who obviously adores Lois and Clois. Ideally, the finale will remain very much from Clark's POV at all times. If they are going to explore a wedding and Lex's return in the finale....I think there's room for both and yet I STILL think things can stay Clark-centric. It's tough balancing act and the show has failed at that balancing act before. But I do think it's possible to get the balance right in the series finale and to address and pay tribute to the relationships that will be the most influential to Clark in the future while still making sure that Clark and his journey and his feelings and emotions are what is front and center through the series finale. I have faith that Beeman is the kind of director who can do that.
