Well, my Memorial Day weekend vacation was wonderful.
Brief overview as follows:
Joe and I traveled to MI for the weekend, arriving rather earlier than normal on Friday night.
The next day we headed out to my dad’s, and took my dad and mom2 out to breakfast. After a good breakfast at a ma and pop restaurant we used to frequent when I was a child (brought back memories, it did) we went back to dad’s house where he very kindly changed the brakes on Joe’s van for cost. Then we had dinner, consisting of hotdogs from the grill and other good eats.
We headed back to Bay City, and went out with Shelly to sing karaoke with her friend - and our friends, the two Chris-es, showed up as well. After a good time of chatting and fun, Shelly and her friend and nephew headed home. Chris, Chris, Joe and I went to the Texan to get a bit to munch on and talk.
After we dropped them off, we headed back to Joe’s parent’s house (where we were staying) and collapsed.
Sunday I went to the Star Wars movie with mom, chatted with
captain_selyna and her daughter, and did a few other things with people that escape my mind at the moment.
Monday was Jared’s birthday (Shelly’s son) so we went over there, had dinner, and chatted. We left in the afternoon to see Joe’s grandma, visited for a time, then picked up our stuff, said bye to Shelly, and headed home.
We didn’t get back until way too late, but oh well. We brought back my new kitten with us - T’iluk. He’s such a cute little thing… after about a ½ hour in the car, he calmed down and stayed on my lap the rest of the trip, purring (or Joe’s lap when I drove). He’s an orange tiger, but he’s got more of a marbled pattern than stripes. I’ll post pics when I get them. He purrs like crazy, but it sometimes takes him a try or two to get any other noise out - and when he does, it’s a squeak, not a meow. I guess it makes up for having Mr. Mouth (a.k.a. Joe’s cat Kuroneko). It took Kuroneko about 24 hours to get used to the kitten (and to stop hissing). Frankly, I think it’s an incredibly short time for the two to become friends, but I think that Kuroneko was lonely - we just don’t have the time to play with him like we used to. Now he has a little friend, and the two play-fight constantly.
I’m beginning to debate expelling them from the bedroom at night, as they throw each other into things - like the metal closet doors.
Anyway, not much else goin’ on… we’re going out of town again this weekend, because it’s
sisyphusx’s birthday! So we’re going to his place for the weekend!
Oh, and just a short rant: I spent about a ½ hour - 45 min on the phone today at work, trying to figure out how to record a webconference (something that I did eventually discover was built into the software. The conversations went something like this:
AT&T: "Hi! This is so-and-so. How can I help you today?"
Me: "Hi. I want to record my webconference. How would I go about doing that?"
AT&T: "Okay, I just need a few articles of information to pull up your account...."
...roughly 5-9 minutes pass of info exchange...
AT&T: "Okay, I have it here - press *2 after the conference begins."
Me: ...pause...
"Won't that just type it into the chat window on the webconference software?"
AT&T: ...uncomfortable silence...
"Oh, you mean you want to record your webconference?"
Me: "That is what I said, and I'm pretty sure *2 is how you record your teleconference."
AT&T: "Oh... let me see... I'm just going to put you on hold for a minute, okay?"
Me: Sigh.
"Okay."
...2 minutes pass....
AT&T: "Okay, I've found someone who can answer that question for you. Will you hold a minute while I transfer you?"
Me: ...roll eyes...
“Fine.”
AT&T: "Hi! This is so-and-so. How can I help you today?"
