man, I kind of had the same sense of "is this real" but I attributed to it reminding me a lot of dark!fic. Doesn't it just feel like dark fic? Like you'll read the story, and then put it down, and go back to canon and think, "what an interesting take on how things could go bad"
Ahhhhh... I understand that impulse/decision. The book is a real pivot or divergence from the happy canon established and I understand your reluctance to go down the rabbit hole and see where he's going.
However, I fully intend to do so - shall I let you know if its worth it? or have other friends already mentioned?
Nope, I'm definitely counting on you to chart out the rest of the series for me, hah. I've just really hit a point similar to, oh, SPN around late season 5, where I didn't quite have the heart to continue until I knew for sure where it was going ahead of time.

No problemo, I shall forge ahead as an intrepid explorer and send back a detailed missive on whether I like the destination or not :)
