somehow, this seemed to warrant a livejournal post.

so, listen.

the gap is basically my second home. sad, yes. but true nonetheless. it seems as if i never leave the place.

so today, i woke up at 6, got to work at 7:30. it seemed like any normal day. for some reason, despite the horrid weather, we were surprisingly busy today. so at 4:30, after i trudged across the store, punched out, and grabbed my things, i was waiting for a manager to walk me out (company policy).

glancing over toward the men's socks column, i see a guy - brown hair, plaid shirt, a bit unkempt. i do a double take; he looks familiar. and then it hits me. is it? could it be?

yes. ryan adams was shopping for men's socks in MY gap. my "home."

here's the part where it's not a cool story anymore. i run to my friend ian, looking to find someone that will also recognize him and confirm my sighting. the problem is, i literally ran. then, i could hardly spit the words out due to giddy hyperventilation. please imagine the sight of me, sluggish after such a long, early day, running across a large store, hysterical, screeching "ian! it's ryan adams! right?! yeah! i know! it's ryan adams!"

a member of his entourage definitely caught my fit of excitement and would not stop staring and laughing at me. it was at this point that i paused to realize the scene i was causing. many of my co-workers were staring, embarrassed for me. of course, no one had any idea who he was, so i just looked all the more moronic.

once i realized how embarrassed i should be, i quickly left the store. no hello, no picture, no normal person conversation. i ruined it.

but nonetheless, i did get to see ryan adams on my home turf. AND i get to hear him play his music (likely to be a far more enjoyable experience) on monday.

um, the end.
