First of all, let's start with the good stuff - we had an absolutely wonderful weekend with our friends Sarah and Brian. We basically just spent the whole weekend just hanging out. We bbq'd outside on Friday night and sat on their absolutely gorgeous patio. Saturday - we had originally planned to go to the zoo. However - Sarah is eight months pregnant and was finding walking to be challenging (without loosing her breath). So - we went and got some stuff for the baby's room (it is a really awesome room with a colour block wall) and Sarah and I puttered (is that a word) around getting stuff ready. Brian finally painted the dresser for the baby's room that Sarah had been begging him to do for months (nothing like a chorus asking you when you are going to do it-peer pressure is a wonderful thing). Brandon fell asleep in their lovely recliner and had Sparky (the cat) come and sleep in his lap. The only reason this is notable is that Sparky NEVER sits on anyone - including Sarah or Brian. Brian was very jealous because he has always wanted Sparky to do this but Sparky never has (What can I say? A cat never does what you want them to). Saturday night we went out to a really nice local restaurant (I cannot remember what I had but I do remember it was good). On Sunday morning, Sarah cooked a huge breakfast (when I lived with Sarah five years ago, I had to teach her how to make mac and cheese (out of a box)!) Her culinary skills are significantly improved. I helped in the garden a bit (bending over is quite challenging for Sarah these days), we went for a walk (saw a great blue heron hanging out in the pond - very cool) and then Brandon and I headed to the airport. We both got upgraded and got to sit together which was really nice. We then had a few lovely hours at home with Target (who was very happy to see us).
Bright and early Monday morning, I headed off to New Jersey and Brandon headed to Alabama (he gets all of the REALLY glamourous locations). Brandon was very sweet and drove me to the airport. This week has really and truly been a blur. Brandon and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary on Tuesday. I can't believe how quickly the time has gone... Brandon sent me a very cute card to my hotel which was a pleasant surprise.
Work is a double edged sword for me these days from a couple of perspectives... I am really enjoying what I am doing but have WAY too much to do and WAY too little time to do it (hence why I have already been here almost 12 hours today). That having been said, I am really, really, really enjoying most of what I am doing and the people that I am working with (the only other downside is that I am in NJ - not Atlanta...) I have a pretty great team - well, two out of three are marvelous. One is not. This individual is going to drive me insane. He cannot communicate clearly, blames everyone else when he is questionned about something, does not pay attention to detail, etc. I am at a total loss. It takes me HOURS to review his work (three times as long+ than anyone else...)
Must go. Have to finish a course design and go to the gym.
