On halloween a few of us hungout in rideau and ottawa u.
we all wanted to go trick-or-treating, but the weather wasn't exactly nice to us (windy, rainy, and cold). And considering Andreea's costume was made out of newspaper, we decided to just relax inside a cozy place.
most of the time was spent in the basement of Vanier (near the lockers) waiting for Nabelah to write her test. During that time, Khuyen decided to make Andreea a paper-masche nun-with big boobs- outfit. It turned out quite well, actually, considering we only had newspaper and tape and a bit of staples. hahaha
but it was difficult for Andreea to walk...and she made so much noise walking, too! haha
khuyen was supposed to come in a huge puffy dress, but she didn't get the costume in time, so she decided to change her plan. With red paint, ripped up shirt, some twigs & leaves, and a chop-stick, she turned herself into a dead girl. It was so cool! i really liked how creative she was.
Nabelah was supposed to dress up as a ninja, but because of all the stress from the test/quiz being postponed to the 2nd half of her 3-hours class, she got too lazy to change. haha
as for me, khuyen dressed me up as (initially supposed to be a hippie but somehow) a gypsy, with many beads and such. It looked nice, except all those beads around my neck kind of became heavy after a while.
pictures of these will come later since they've yet to be developed.
===========
we managed to get the sofa, most of our clothes, tables and stools out of the way (yay!) so our house is a bit more roomy. Except, we still have so much crap scattered all over the floor.
ah well. hopefully by this sunday, everything will be cleared away. So i guess sunday would be the last day for us to have the computer, since we're planning on taking out the drives by then.
aside from packing and trying to get most of our paperworks done, i managed to finally finish my second scarf.
this is the first scarf i made (sorry for bad quality due to my webcam):
initially tried to follow the same pattern ika was using to make hers (
http://www.marthastewart.com/page.jhtml?type=content&id=channel172064) but i messed up, lost count, and dropped so many stitches it wasn't even funny! so i ended up trying out my own thing.
i managed to finish that, but it wasn't long enough to be wrapped around the neck so much. haha but ah well, still a neck-warmer:
the second scarf is this (the color is green, if you can't see it. haha):
i decided to make my own pattern. The ends, i worked in 2x2 ribbing, and the sides were worked in knit stitches:
the body, i worked in alternating purls & knit stitches:
i started this right after i finished the first scarf last winter. But.....i finished it just a couple of days ago. hahaha I'm a super slow knitter, and i make so many mistakes so i end up having to re-do it a couple of times. And like the first one, this scarf isn't long enough to be wrapped around the neck much. haha But it's still a neck-warmer!
yesterday i decided to knit again, using the same green material as my second scarf. I wasn't sure what i wanted to make. And i'm just an amateur so i can't make anything other than a scarf.
i decided to just try a 3x3 ribbing pattern, and along the way, i decided to make a bracelet out of it. It's not that good, but i like it.
this is the top-view:

the side:
i wasn't sure if i should sow the ends together to make a closed bracelet. I was afraid the thread would break when someone wears it (putting it on requires stretching the material).
so i decided to look into my mom's sowing basket (i actually used it for once!) and found she had so many nifty buttons! so yea, i tried sowing on the button and a clasp as best as i could.
i'm quite happy that it turned out like that! hahahaha
