first, for anyone familiar with that story i apologize... and also, mine is going to be a little less dramatic and cheesy. now then (that's an odd phrase), my story about 'the dash'.
i just took my last final (the #1 most nerve wracking thing i've had to do). after which i promptly went and talked to doctor daniel d. ding and informed him that he is stupid and cannot add or keep his own grades straight (i found out in the process of correcting my grade in his class that he had two of my papers recorded incorrectly, on the plus side i also found out i aced the final paper). i eventually made it to the library to see what sue (my boss) had for me (i was betting on a pink slip). at the library i saw kelly, stole her computer, and checked my grades (for the fourth time today). i saw that the english grade had already updated to my shiny new 'a-', but i also notice that pathophysiology (the #2 most terrifying thing i had to do) was also up. c-... passing, i think.
i felt pretty ok about the parasitology final i just took, coupled with the alumni coffee cup sue had for me, and thus walking home i was in high spirits. but then i set in that i might need an actual 'c' to pass classes in my program. i fought off the dread that no matter how well i just did on the parasitology final i might already be screwed. i hunted down one of the sheets that has the information about my program, seriously prepared myself to read it, and read as follows:
graduation requirements:
1. 2.0 cumulative grade average in all course work
2. 2.0 grade average in biology courses with no grade lower than c-
3. blah blah i didn't read past two
so woot. i'm almost officially graduated. i will be ok with a c- in parasitology as well (even though i really wanted to pull my gpa above 3.0 with this semester... it was 2.654 going into this semester and 2.974 with half my grades in). i just sure as hell better get it.
