An Update on 'Long Journey Home'

Dec 15, 2010 22:09

I realize it's quite possible that anyone who might have been reading Long Journey Home have long since given up on the chance that I might finish it someday; but for those who are still holding out hope, I wanted to provide an update.

I haven't had time to write on this fic in a very long time, and even when I might have the time, I didn't have any clear view of what I wanted to do -- or more to the point, how I wanted to handle what I wanted to do.

In the last week, it's like my Doctor Who muse has come out of hiding and with a vengeance. It started with me listening to a Doctor Who audio book while at work, read by David Tennant. Hearing The Doctor got my juices going, so to speak.

Then, I was talking with a potential cover artist for my publishing company, and her start came from fanart. She is a big Doctor Who fan, and after talking with her for a couple hours, I couldn't stop thinking about my unfinished fic.

THEN, a good friend of mine whom I met through another fandom 'discovered' Doctor Who this week. And she loves it. And she loves my fic, so I know she'll be reading my stuff soon. And it pushed me to think about Long Journey Home once again.

In the last two days, I've written about 8,000 words. I'm apparently writing from a certain point through the end. Then I'll have to go back and fill in the space between. This is a LONG piece, probably the longest I'll write in this series.

My intent is to FINISH the whole thing and then post all of it at once. In one fell swoop. :-)

I'd LIKE to have this done by Christmas, but I don't know.

Just an update. Anyone still interested?
