JoCo & TMBG: Better Together!: I must admit, I've been so down and unmotivated lately I couldn't muster the desire to go see TMBG when they come through my home state for two dates in March at Asheville and Charlotte. (Serious warning sign, I know!) But then, as if sensing my hesitation, they sweetened the deal: Jonathan Coulton is opening ( Read more... )

I know, this one is my favorite of all the GQMFs that the LiveJournal community ontd_startrek did after the Star Trek movie.

Chekov was so... jailbaity... mmm. Turning me into a premature cougar...

Aw, I guess if you're having trouble being motivated for the Carolina shows, that means you won't be in Atlanta??

I'm sorry to say I will not. I'm still working out the details of how 'time off' works at my new job on the whole, as well as feeling sort of all-over down. I hope that John, John, Jon(athan), Dan, Dan(ny), and Marty will form a pyramid of awesome to cure me of my funk.

How are you liking this new job?

I love my boss and my co-worker, and we laugh almost every day. I love eating lunch in the office with them. I got the job of reorganizing the supply closet, which I finally finished today and which was my very favorite thing so far.

Not so awesome is the fact that I work the front desk and am 'the Gatekeeper' as Sherrie puts it, my job is answering the phone and keeping people from wasting an accountant's valuable time. I have awful phone anxiety, and telemarketers have become ruthless monsters. Also I've been assigned a technical support task for really new software on an OS I'm not used to.

Nevertheless I love my boss, and she's really happy with me. We all get along so well. It's not retail or food service or sanitation. And she's letting me swap days to go see TMBG. I've already gotten a raise in my first two weeks. What more can I ask for?

That's tempting... it can be tough for me to travel for shows with my work schedule but I love JoCo! I saw him with Paul & Storm at the Pour House in Raleigh... a while back. Maybe in 2006?

I was really blown away by the Giants show at the art museum in September - the one I'd been to before that was fine but I didn't feel like they had the energy I'd come to expect from past shows. So I was kind of ambivalent about going but ended up having a blast. Sooo... if there's a way I can finagle one of those shows I may do it. We'll see.

I'm glad you had such a blast at the museum. It was awesome being there and getting to see you at the show! If you manage to come to one of these shows that would be super-awesome too. I love The Orange Peel particularly as a venue.

I don't think JoCo is bringing the Paul and Storm, but that would be so HyperAwesome.

Hi! This is Tad Williams. Please excuse the interruption to your regularly scheduled bloggery. People here have mentioned my work, or love fantasy and science fiction, so I just wanted to pop in and say that anyone interested in reading a chapter from my new book, SHADOWRISE, should drop an email to:

deborah.shazam@batnet.com

and we'll send one to you. We won't do anything rotten with your email address, either, we promise.

Thanks - Tad
