Facing 2023

Dec 31, 2022 18:16

Let's start with the obvious that 2022 was for me an improvement on 2021. Not perfect or great or even better than average, but a step up on 2021.
It also left me with enough mental energy to try to set some goals for 2023.

  • Do three miles on a treadmill at six mph with a shallow incline.
  • Stop reading haunted house novels until my mental state around the required tropes improves.
  • Do two sets of six reps at pull ups without any weight assist. (Versions of this goal have been around since at least 202o, if not 2019.)
  • Run a game or session that I am happy about.
  • Cook one recipe each month from my D&D cookbook for my gaming group. (Allowing adaptation for cheaper meat, frozen veg, or similar.)
  • Take the dogs on one adventure a month even if it's just to a park.
  • Write a short story, short play, short screenplay, or single issue comic book script. (Doesn't matter if it is ever read or performed.)
  • Improve my body grooming and makeup for Rocky Horror. Maybe find other reasons and times to care about my appearance.
  • Setup basic funeral and probate arrangements for both of us.

Not exactly a set of goals that is setting the world on fire or involving massive self improvement. But they're mostly attainable and after the last couple years hitting some goals would be good.
