Weaving?

As some of you know, I've had a table loom for a while now, loaned to me by Gryff... it had frustrated me because all the harnesses were locked in the 'up' position, and I had no idea how to make them go down.... so I gave up for a long time, and it became an ornament... until talking to Lois a few weeks ago, and it started to niggle at my brain again.... there must be a way to do this!

So today, I went and poked at it again... and finally the clues came together. There's a metal section that holds the harness levers separate from each other, and it had a spring attached to it...and I finally connected the fact that there were protruding bits that the levers were stuck under... so I gave the whole section a push inwards, and *clang!*, all the harnesses dropped, giving me a bit of a start.

It's a Leclerc Jano 20", made more than 40 years ago.

I'm measuring out my first warp, which is a bit ambitious (who, me???)... a 'crackle/summer and winter' weave for coasters... it calls for 3/2 cotton, (I've read about S&W now, and am slightly confused, so I'm thinking a twill instead would be a good first try *grin*)I have 2/8... so now I have to figure out how to read the draft so I can figure out how to add repeats and make them larger to compensate for the smaller yarn. Good thing I have a book to explain that... Learning to Weave by Deborah Chandler, recommended by Gryff, I believe.

So hopefully at some point this fall, I'll have some coasters to show off! :)

This hopefully will goad me to start posting projects on here... I've been meaning to for the last week or so, but I get hung up on taking the pictures.  But I do hope to start taking pictures and posting about the various projects I have in the works.
