Freecycle rocks, at least for my first time at it. I'd joined the Yahoo group a year or two ago when I'd heard about it somewhere, but never posted anything. With all the renovations and stuff here, I figured it was a good time to get rid of a few pieces of furniture, starting with the blue/white desk I used for a computer desk before I got my new one set up last spring. So yesterday I cleaned it out, wiped it down, and last night around 6:30 posted it on Freecycle.
Within 5 minutes I had an email asking for a picture, and 2 more quickly followed within the next 2 hours. After a few more emails and a phone call this morning, the lady showed up around 10:30, picked up the desk, and left. I now have that much more room in the living room. :D I was very happily shocked with how fast it happened, and happier still to know that it went to someone who wanted it, rather than sitting in Value Village or somewhere for who knows how long.
I'm now planning to put up the biggest bureau I have, which was given to me by a family friend a couple years ago, and right now is holding a lot of fabric, yarn, and even more junk. So over the next week or so I hope to clear that out, and put that up on freecycle. The only issue with that, is that it's HUGE, heavy as sin, comes with full-size mirror, and I have 3 half-flights of stairs to get it down. :P All of which will be mentioned. But I'll replace it with the much smaller dresser here in the spare room, find new storage solutions for the stash, toss the junk, and end up with more free space in both rooms :D
I'd also love to get rid of the end table currently serving as my table stand, and get a real stand with some shelves underneath for the VCR, PS2, etc... and all of my 4 VHS tapes :P
