New, ambitious project.

Yes, yet another project. :P Get over it, I am ;)

We had no work from yesterday afternoon until this afternoon, and while browsing the web, I got inspired by a couple things. One is a scarf that I'd seen originally a few months ago, thought it was pretty cool, but beyond my knitting skills, and so I moved on. Well, now it's caught my eye again and I'm going to give it a shot.

http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATTclapotis.html is the pattern.

Apparnetly there's several hundred of these already on Flickr, and the pictures are just cool. So interesting to see how this pattern turns out in different weights, and especially colors, of yarn.  http://www.flickr.com/photos/liralenli/314624823/in/set-72057594071005766/ is my favorite by far! Check out the link below the picture for the yarn she made it from. :)

That yarn inspired me enough that I want to try space-dying some roving and making my own yarn, but for now that project's shelved because I don't have enough roving and I can't afford the dyes right now.

So.... I looked through what I have, and saw the merino/silk roving that I picked up at the same time at Gaspereau Valley Fibers. It's a pretty grey/rose/white/black, and I have almost all of 100g here.

*grins* So I've decided to spin the roving and 3-ply it to knit into this scarf.  From the suggested yarn requirements, I need 2460 yards of singles.  But, I already have 61 yards, approximately, spun tonight alone, so this may be doable.  I'm hoping to do batches of 240 yards, so I can make skeins the same size when I ply as the original yarn called for. Will be the first time I'll even approach fully loading my spindle, and I'm afraid it may overload it, but we'll find out.

I'm aiming for at least 15 yards a night, which is about one of my drafted sections of roving I've made, and more spinning when I can.

Wee!! I'm so looking forward to this.
