I went to an
Assemblage 23 tour last night at
Shampoo's weekly
Nocturne night in Philadelphia(electronic/industrial/ebm music). This was my first electronic music concert ever, so it was pretty exciting. It was also my first time in a club of any sort really. It's amazing how much better electronic music sounds when it's blaring crystal clear over a clubs speakers in comparison to listening in my dormroom through my crappy earphones. I was really enjoying myself before the concert even started.
Cesium 137 opened for Assemblage, and did a pretty decent show. Around 11pm, Assemblage 23 came on...and the real fun started. The show was so incredibly good, and filled with energy, even the gloomy goths were bouncing, clapping and singing along. They opened with Armor, a suprising choice...not exactly being one of his bigger hits. As the show went on, he got to all the classics such as failure, house on fire, document...and all the other hits. A spectacular show overall...and I can't wait to go to the Covenant Northern Lights tour, Melotron's rare american performance in Newark and to a lesser extent the Ministry tour as well. Exciting summer for concerts indeed.
If you've never listened to assemblage 23, and are into electronic music of any sort, you should really give them a listen. They're best tracks come off of their 2nd album
Failure, though the more recent
Defiance is quite good as well. The best tracks for anyone new to EBM are probably Failure, House on Fire, I am the Rain or Naked...all off Failure.
