all that shimmers in this world is sure to fade away again

it's sunday, the day of homework at the end of a seemingly endless week. cali was hugely kickass.
on saturday, we left for LA around seven. maybe it was five. either way, the first leg of the flight was virtually painless and i just harassed anjali for an hour. then we reached o'hare, which is one of my favorite airports (possibly my favorite, but i dont wanna be to hasty because i do love the puerto plata one and the newly remodeled chennai one, if for no reason other than the friend we made who followed us through the airport asking anjali what to do as anjali made several valiant attempts to outrun the poor woman. anotehr story for another time.). anywhoo, o'hare rocks because they have automatic toilet seat cover changer thingies and theres a starbucks on every corner. pretty much everything you could ask for in an airport, wouldnt you agree? the flight from chicago to LA was absolutely hellish because it was the middle of the night and the armrests wouldnt move because we stupidly chose to sit in the front row. i think it was a lot worse than india, despite the 14 hour difference between the two trips. we got to the rental car place only to find a 'sperm stain', as we would continue to call it for the rest of the trip, on the backseat of the car. hahaha i miss it.

LA was awesome. we visited hollywood boulevard, the famed sign, saw the theater where the oscars will be held, rodeo drive, etc. we went to a really kickass indian restaurant. yes thats right, we traveled to LA to eat foods that we eat every week at home. ravi was so right when he called us worldly. the weather in LA was heinous and rainy every day, though. we tried to get tickets to the tonight show but we got stand by tickets and didnt get in :( we did get to see the days of our lives set though, whcih was awesome. on tuesday we went to the san diego zoo and saw some of anjalis long-lost relatives. the weather was nice, so it was cool, and even though a bunch of the animals were really really really mega disgusting, some were cute. i am still having trouble understanding why they would put any farm animals or creatures that resemble farm animals or cattle in a zoo. it's gross. anjali spent far too much time making faces and 'teasing' the animals, a concept that far exceeded my mother's understanding because she later told people that me and anjali were pretending to be animals. yes, we parthasarathis sure are bright. we stopped by to see some family friends, which was nice.

We spent the next few days in san fransisco. We drove from LA to san fran on this gorgeous path that was right on the coast, something i'd recommend to anyone who goes there. san fran rocked. there was tons of shopping and a bunch of really cool art galleries just randomly dispersed throughout the city. i wish we had had more time to look at those. golden gate was really impressive. luckily anjali and i were able to catch the OC on thursday even though we were eating dinner at her future husband's house. i liked it, even though the spiderman part was wayyy to cheesy for my liking, as was the ridiculousness of summer seeing a little kid playing with a horse and having to see seth because of it. however, as long as they're back together, it's bearable. friday night, we went out to dinner to saravanabhavan, which is an indian restaurant that we go to whenever we're in india but they've opened a few in north america now. there's one in toronto and one in cali, and it was sooo awesome. i'm gonna miss indian food like crazy when i go to college.

the flight back wasn't as torturous, but our first leg was delayed and we thought we'd miss our connecting flight. this annoying lady was putting her arm out to block our way so that her friends could get off the plane first. little did she know that we pushy parthasarathis will do what we have to do to catch our flight. hahahaha my family is truly insane. we sprinted from one end of the airport to another only to find that the second flight had been delayed by three hours and kept on being further postponed because united airlines tends to suck at life. either way, they lost some baggage but we got it today. and that is all. and now i need to do a week's worth of calc hw. farewell, and i'll see everyone at school tomorrow when senior privileges are unjustly cancelled. ahh to be a senior under paddocks reign.
