Name That Poet!

Jun 04, 2006 21:52

Yesterday was my birthday, but yesterday was kind of horrible so I pretended that today was my birthday instead.

Anyway, I am nineteen years old now and I have done nothing useful with my life so far.

I celebrated this fact by doing some more stuff that wasn't useful.

Someday I intend to make a lasting contribution to the human race, although I am not quite sure how I will accomplish this. Today I mostly lay on the sofa doing nothing. But in the morning, I read some poetry, which provided the inspiration for a really fun game called Name That Poet!

How To Play: Look at all the pictures of poets below. Guess who they are. If you guess right, then I will draw you a special picture with my amazing Microsoft Paint skills (har har) based on one of your interests. Sounds fun? I knew you'd agree!

Of course, if you know which poets I like then it will be a bit easier for you. For those who aren't roselet, Googling and Wiki-ing is allowed.

Poet #1: Robert Frost, recognized by shivi

Poet #2: W.B. Yeats, guessed by roselet

~*~

Poet #3: William Carlos Williams, identified by thezahir

~*~

Not a Poet #4: Aldous Huxley. No one guessed him, poor man.

~*~

Writer #5: F. Scott Fitzgerald, identified by roselet

I think he's cute.

~*~

Poet #6: I'm fiddling with the Name That Poet page when Mum walks in. I point to the picture on the screen and say, jokingly: "Guess who that is!"

"Er," she says. "Walt Whitman?"

Just when you thought you knew something they didn't...

I confess that I have not actually read any Whitman. But it was such an awesome picture!

~*~

Poet #7: Ezra Pound, unguessed

Having a beard like that confirms that you are an artist of some sort. Or a philosopher. Or a socio-political theorist.

Basically, you have funny ideas.

~*~

Poet #8: Bill Watterson, guessed by thezahir

Calvin's Dad, anyone?

~*~

Poet #9: e.e. cummings, spotted by roselet

(Oh, darling. Marry me, now.)

~*~

So, guess away! May the Force be with you and all.
