crazy weekend
This weekend was crazy. The only really important thing that happened (other than totally pwning rob and james) was passing my firearms saftey course. This prbly needs so explaining as many people on my lj list are rather antigun, and this may seem like an odd course of action for me. My reasons are as follows:
1.Guns scared the crap out of me.
-I have always been quite frightened of guns and that of course took the "hate what you fear" direction. Dave (my highschool math teacher) talked to me a lot about guns and opened my mind to the idea. I came to the conclusion that if I fear them this much it is prbly a good idea to actually learn about them. I decided that if i still hated them at the end of the course, fine, that would be the end of it.
2.Combat proficiency is important to me.
-I beleive the ability to defend yourself/loved ones is EXTREMELY important. While I have devoted at least some time to learning how to fight unarmed/melee/bows I sort of realized that it was stupid that i was avoiding the most relevant form of combat. So I decided I should really get at least some idea how to use a firearm.
3.Target shooting looks fun.
-thats really all there is to say there.
4.I am concerned with safety. (relates to number 2)
-I beleive that the shit could hit the fan any day. I beleive that western civilization could colapse at any moment. I beleive that someone could break into my home and attempt to harm my family. These are all events i wish to be prepared for. I respect the police, I beleive they do the best they can with what they have (some of the time anyways), but I am not going to leave my families saftey in someone elses hands who does not share my vested interest and is not willing to make the "sacrifices" I am willing to make to protect them. So in short, if someone fucks with my home I want to maim/kill that person and am willing to execpt the consequences of those actions. as the saying goes "better 10 in jail than eternety in a box" or something to that effect anyway.
So yeah, work is almost done YAY. Mucho relaxing will ensue. night night
