Part 19 - The end and the beginning Chapter 4 of 5
A/N: the final part of Echoes is also going up today - I'll leave it to you to decide which one you want to read first, but this is longer :) ( SoaL 19.4 )
Wow. Alpha Trion, huh? Except instead of laughing maniacally into his beard he's been having a genial little chuckle, benevolently fiddling with the poor, misguided little Autobots and Decepticons. In this case, it looks like he DID engineer the war! Megatron said something about following the rules before Al-er, 'Asher' presented him with option Who-Wants-To-Be-A-Prime. Arg. The fact that he can present himself as a kindly, well-meaning figure even after claiming unabashed responsibility for derailing, destroying, and twisting so many lives just proves that underneath it all he is a psychopath- he's got the traits! Lack of empathy and remorse, shallow emotions, egocentric, deceptive, and an unfailing self-confidence in his schemes. I have to say, I thought Asher was Shockwave in the beginning...now I'm sorry I thought him capable. The dude was sadistic, creepy, and more than a little obsessed, but he had genuine feelings of loyalty and devotion for Megatron and the Decepticon cause, more interested in ending the war, not interested in playing god with his fellow Cybertronians.
It's horrible what he did, and I'm glad Optimus had the gears to put him in jail for the time being. No one, least of all Prowl, should be used like a tissue- single use, your life blows, then you're thrown away.
Aw, what will they tell Jazz? I can hardly imagine the shock and horror of finding out his soul mate was born to die, and his only chance is probable death by spark transplant. I hope Prowl survives, his whole family is now gathered together to support him.
Quickscan, you are about to become a part of the wackiest family on Cybertron, no lie. With the Head of Special Ops (and by extension, his team), the Twin Terrors, Bluestreak, and the holder of the world title for longest uninterrupted shifts, he'll never have a dull moment!
Cheer up, Ratchet. Thundercracker has saved your bacon with a bold plan!...er, as long as you don't kill you patient with it. I wondered if Tundercracker was alive for some future plot reasons...
The next week will be so long, holy cow, I might die. ARG! ~T-t-tension, it's tearin' us apa-a-a-art~
As always, you make my Thursdays awesome with your updates. Thank you!
Yes, it's Alpha Trion. And yes, he's basically responsible for the whole thing - start to finish. Okay, so he helped end it, but his methods were questionable at best and he did actually start it, too...
You're entirely right: he's psychopathic. Entirely. And you're right, I think Shockwave possibly has more of a spark.
Ratchet will tell Jazz some of it, but honestly? I'm not sure if he'll ever hear all of it. At least unless he goes to talk to Trion himself.
Wackiest family? Absolutely, and that's without counting the fact that your carrier isn't actually Praxian and is a fraction of the age his friends assume him to be.
Thundercracker had one last role to play and now he can disappear, but for someone who really only had three mentions in the entire fic, he's done very well for himself :)
Next week... oh next week. Next week it'll be over. *shakes head in disbelief.*
I submit that, horrified as they are at Alpha Trion's actions and callousness, everyone who knows what happened has to agree that it's probably for the best that Jazz doesn't find out everything. Because, no matter what anyone says, no matter what anyone does, if Jazz knows what Alpha Trion did to his bonded before Prowl was even activated? He is Meister. Alpha Trion will be dead, or worse.
Well that would depend very much on whether those involved want Trion alive, I suspect. Optimus may have issues with execution but Meister certainly wouldn't have and some of their friends would think it was his right...
Then again, Jazz is firmly planted at Prowl's side and going nowhere right now, so telling him would be another form of cruelty, knowing that Prowl's mentor is out there and exactly what he had done, but not daring to leave Prowl's side for long enough to do anything about it.

Aw, it's okay, I'm only teasing. This close to the end I don't have any room to change things - it'll end the way it was always going to end.
It'll be okay.
