That battle did not go well at all. And... now to stem what damages they can, hopefully find their missing brethren and regroup, and find out who betrayed them.
You handled the descriptions of the battle well between the last chapter and this one. Seeing the results through the optics of Prowl and Sideswipe offered a lot of picture, while leaving the reader feeling just as lost, worried and disconnected as the characters themselves are.
Between the inter character conversations as well as the personal reflections, action reviews and thoughts of the individuals this will be another chapter that stands out a bit more from the majority.
There's still a lot of confusion out there, and the mechs can only share with us what they know of what happened, but we'll build the picture as we get more information. I'm glad to know it worked for you.
You're welcome. And thank you for your bid on the auction. At this stage you've got the leading bid, so do start thinking about what you'd like me to write. I'm open to either a one-shot prompt+characters, or something from one of my existing 'verses. :)
AAAAH! This wasn't enough! I'm still dying here! *lots of anxious writhing and frothing* XD You are very good at torturing your readers, did you know this? ^^
And well, I guess Jazz and Prowl just got their promotions? ^^''
Also yay for Bluestreak! I hope he and Prowl end up close. Prowl needs a fellow Praxian to tell him Praxian things, and Blue needs a secure should and willing ear. ^^
And where's Prime?? =O I hope he didn't end up captured or something! Though it would be very interesting for them to go save him. Oh my goodness I can't wait for the next chapter!! Also I just remembered that assassin....was he the traitor?? =O Jazz knew his presence was a bad sign!
Oh, ok. I'll try to hang on a little longer then. ^^ However, I could no more deny myself reading this fic until it was totally finished than I could deny myself oxygen for the same length of time. ^^ Yes, I did just compare this story the air I breath. ^^
I can't wait to see how Jazz ends up with his position. Seems like he would just wanna retire or quietly fade into the background rather than take Curveball's spot.
Aww! Well I was looking forward to seeing more of Blue, but I totally understand. ^^ Maybe some Echo's chapters or something? (I would not be apposed to a "Bluestreak Chronicles" either though ^^)
I'd better not miss a week, then or you might suffocate! eep!
Oh Jazz does not want to be CSO. He doesn't even think he's really in the running for it, too important doing what he does. If we didn't know better I might even keep it a secret, but of course we all know he's going to be Third in Command - he's the only one who doesn't ^_^
As for Blue, yeah I know. He will be around, we'll see him, but I can't promise much more than that in the main plotline. And although I *could* give him a segment in Echoes, it would be way back at the start of the war (that's the point of Echoes) and so you couldn't get the interaction between him and Prowl anyway. I don't have anything planned, as such, but I *am* toying with some ideas. We'll see what happens.
In the meantime, I'm working hard on SoaL 12.4, I promise :) Have a good week ^_^
Well, in a sense it's a suicide mission - it's dangerous. But no, Prowl doesn't die here. I can state that quite categorically: Prowl does not die in this Part.
Ratchet does know, of course, but he's upset. This would probably be the first time in the war that Ratchet has been caught up in one of these attacks without Prime being around. Ratchet has mostly stayed back, been protected, and Prime has always been there (even if he needed putting back together first!) whereas this time the attack came without warning, took out an unknown number of mechs Ratchet relies on, he doesn't know where his subordinates are or if they even survived, he doesn't know if Prime survived, and now Prowl - the only one left in line of sight who is in control - is going back out there. Ratchet's scared, and he's responding by attacking. :(
*whispers* Prowl's going to be okay in this Part. No promises for future Parts, but here he's going to be okay. :)
How can I wait a whole week? *meep* Amazing chapter. I felt lost and confused, just as the crew does, not knowing what happened. Damn those Seekers! Damn them! This was a devastating blow. So, I'm sort of guessing this is how Jazz becomes head of SpecOps. And I'm with Singthemuse - I think the assasin was part of it all.
Given that the only other time we've seen Silencer he was breaking Jazz out of his role as Nox when it was supposed to be Mirage doing so, you set him up as a suspicious character from the start!
Not to say that, y'know, dedicated assassins are shady or anything.... :)
*applauds* Oh very well done remembering! I love it when people pick up on the tiny details - even I have trouble sometimes!
Yes, Silencer is a bit shady (and yes it comes with the job, but he's shady even for what he is!) and yes he did play a role in what happened. We'll get there. :)

(OTOH, Bluestreak! *happy squee*)

Is Prowl going to do what I think he's going to do?? DD: *clings to*
I really hope this isn't the suicide mission I fear.
Ratchet should acknowledge that Prowl carried out triage, he knows better than anyone the consequences of war.
I am once more on the edge of my seat and I cannot wait until the next installment.
*quiet voice* please don't let Prowl get himself killed :o

Great writing!

Lost and confused is exactly how they're feeling. Everything's a mess, no-one knows who survived, everyone's still potentially in danger.
And yeaaaah, sort of. Jazz will be CSO soon, though possibly not as expected. He's certainly not expecting it at all!
The assassin had a role, yes. I think people are starting to key in to my clues - maybe I need to become more subtle! ;)
