so when Uhura changes her earrings from the movie earrings to the gold hoops, was that a shout-out to old-school Uhura's earrings?

i think the whole thing was faboo. i especially enjoyed bits about Amanda.

Oh hell yeah--I love that she had, like, a zillion pairs of different earrings in TOS. I love that she adds a personal touch to her uniform, to express her personality.

I had started pulling favorite lines, but I fear the list was getting too long. This is amazingly rich and lush, and I was surprised to find myself tearing up at the last few paragraphs.

Thank you so much! I haven't written Trek in almost 10 years, and never these characters before. I just really wanted to explore their relationship, and what Spock's decision to resign his commission while she is going off on a 5 year deep-space mission would have on both of them, would mean IRT their nascent relationship.

I really enjoyed getting Spock's head--I've never done fiction about Spock before. So it was a challenge, but I really enjoyed it.

I've only read the first few sections thus far, but I just have to comment with my appreciation that you analyzed/described the "unseen" exchanges in the film so well! I always thought it was odd that the camera just panned past S/U when he was beamed back to Enterprise from the Jellyfish (And we see Uhura running towards him)...definitely some nice moments missed there!

Now onto the other portions ;)

I'm addicted to "missing scene" stories--and I wanetd to really show how their relationship grew over time, and how Spock's choices would affect both of them, and how important Nyota is to this Spock's life.
