I pose a question to all you out there (until I get home and can post an actual painting):
The artist is limited and directed in his activities by his culture, experience, knowledge, tempermant, personlity and the tools and media available to him. So, if the artist himself is limited and directed by these things, is the artwork also limited and directed?
Even if we want to create something extreme, weird, or unnatural, we have to start with what we know and then try and transform it. Is our imagination limited and directed the same way that we are, or our artworks are?
Needless to say - I'm feeling restricted when it comes to creating new things. Lately I feel they've been boring and uninspired...
I think winter needs to go away. I *really* need to go camping for a couple days. It's so much better to fall asleep to the sound of bullfrogs than it is to fall asleep to the sound of the elevator doors opening and closing in my apartment building.
Come on summer, I'm ready!
