[It's a lovely 4th of July, and just like previous July 4ths Luke is in the holiday spirit. He's spent a good thirteen years of his life in this quaint, American town and what better way to spend it then lighting off fireworks and spending some time with his dear friends and family. His morning starts off as usual, solving a few puzzles from his ( Read more... )

I must admit, I'm impressed. Mayfield truly has gone above and beyond this year.

They're amazing! Way better then last year's!

[Even not!droned Luke would be impressed, even though he doesn't celebrate American holidays.]

Quite lovely. I can't remember the last time I've seen something like this.

[probably because Susan has never seen fireworks in her life.]

I can't imagine how much they spent on this display.

I'll say! I bet it cost thousands, if not more!

Oh, mum - [there's a hint of a British accent, but it goes unnoticed by Luke.] do we have any more sparklers?

[Susan may be betraying her own British accent every now and then. ...Or constantly, with her word choices.]

No, I'm afraid your father's used up the last of them. He's like an overgrown child, that man.

Aww, I was hoping there was at least one more left...

[Well, more time to enjoy the fireworks he guesses. But something still felt off about today and he can't quite place his finger on it.]

Uhm, today seemed a little different then previous 4th of Julys, didn't it?

[Susan will glance down and frown a little.]

...As a matter of fact, everyone's been acting perfectly bizarre. Your brother won't stop badgering me about something or another to do with my grandfather.

Right! And others have been spouting off nonsense about how we never lived here and how it's all fake.

[And strange visions and memories, but he doesn't say that.]

But they're just being silly, right?

Naturally.

[Although Susan doesn't sound entirely sure of herself.]

Don't let them worry you. It's some odd prank going around.

[Despite the words, he still doesn't feel at ease.]

It's not a very good prank either...

Uhm mom, you haven't had any kind of...strange thoughts, have you? Like of places you've never been to before?

Well, I wouldn't say that. ...I am recalling some memories of my childhood, though. I think we visited these places when I was very young. I can't remember it too well...

...In that case, was there anytime we ever visited London? When I was really small?

[That place he saw in his memories, it was London. He didn't know how it was London or why he would ever recognize it, but it was.]

London? No, we've never been that far. I'm afraid your father and I aren't much in the way of vacations - We've never even gone past Westport.

[Never gone past Westport? Now he's even more confused. How would he know about London in such detail if he's never been there before?]

R-right, well...I must've been thinking of someplace else then.

...You could try to describe it to me, if you'd like.

[He doesn't want to tell her at first, the last thing he wants is his own mother thinking he's gone crazy. But it's driving him crazy and he needs to tell someone.]

It's just...

I keep seeing this clock tower, and River Thames, and this man in a top hat, and even this strange machine in a clock shop and I keep thinking I should know them all from somewhere and I can't-

[And he just kind of shuts up. Great now she probably does think he's crazy, yammering on about some man he's never met and a city he's never been to.]
