Cuz I am an ass…. its well known….
I love when people in this building stand in our doorway and hold a conversation on their phones.
The hallway that runs down the back of our office leads to the smoking area/loading dock. And the back door leading to our office is in a little niche. Small area, recessed about 3 feet from the wall. Just enough to allow the door to swing out without protruding into the hallway.
So when idiots want to have a private conversation they like to stand in that area and talk on their phones. Usually it is loud enough that I hear their part of the conversation. Even though my office is on the other side of that door… and a good 15 paces from it. But I can hear them. For some reason they like to speak loudly. Might be the cool echo going down that hall. That certainly makes for a private conversation.
Anyways…. my favorite new past time…. whenever I hear one of these idiots out there….. I like to rush out for a smoke or a potty break. Making sure to open the door very quickly, and with some force behind it.
Today, I have smacked 3 people on the back of the head with a solid oak door that weighs at least 100 pounds. Its awesome to see them look at me in disgust. And then very casually state “Wow… that wasn’t the smartest place to stand was it? This door gets a lot of use. You might want to move. Just looking out for ya.”
All of which is true… and comes from the bottom of my little black heart.
1 - It wasn’t a smart place to stand.
2 - The door does get a lot of use…. especially when I hear people on the other side of it.
3 - If they don’t want to get hit again…. then move.
4 - I was looking out for them…. If I wasn’t I wouldn’t have opened the door nearly as fast.
