Create Your Own Circumstances
So ekeppich woke me up the other morning by gently kissing my face. I was snuggled deeply in the covers, but he'd already gotten up and showered. I was awakened from a dream in which I was telling someone this:
"It's one thing to be given a set of circumstances and to just roll with them, but it's another thing entirely to create your own circumstances."
I think this best summarizes my outlook on life's events. It really isn't all that difficult to react to situations unfolding around you, but a strong person will go forward and make things happen. This isn't to say that everything can be controlled, because obviously it can't, but when things happen to you, you can still choose your outlook and change your actions so that a better outcome prevails. I choose to surround myself with people who work at life and themselves, rather than just exist in this world leaving everything up to "fate." And I work at being one of those people, too.
