4th of July already.  I just finished reading the book The Know It All, about a guy who read the entire Encyclopedia Britannica.  This entry on the Star Spangled Banner is all do fitting for today.
"Francis Scott Key's poem was originally called The Defense of Ft. M'Henry.  Also, the melody was taken from a British drinking song.  Which is odd.  Since Key wrote it during the War of 1812 against the British. First rounders, now this.  We love to steal our most patriotic things from our former enemies."  ~A.J. Jacobs
