Yesterday was my first day off in i think 9 days. mostly. I still had to do a show at 9:30, but i mean that was fun. NextFest is underway.
for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, NextFest is a festival put on by Theatre Network, a company here in town. It is devouted to promoting new works, and interdisciplinary art forms. They have about 6 mainstage shows, all new and locally written, and then a series of shorts (which I'm in) and a series of solos. They also have about 5 dance shows playing in a different space, as well as local bands playing every night and local artists on display. Neat, eh? GO CANADA! I love the weirdness of Canadian theatre, especially new post-judith thompson post-Daniel MacIvor theatre (read: a lot of solo shows dealing with odd emotional break downs and non-linear story lines).
Tonight is Tara's birthday, we are going to the Roost. I made her a skirt for her birthday. I made it yesterday in about 4 hours with no pins or a ruler. Let's just say that if I didnt have an ulcer before, I have one now.
