PTSD and Heart Disease
New study--a robust long term study with twins even--has found an undeniable link between PTSD and increased rates of heart disease:

An unusual study released today underscores these fears. During 13 years of research, scientists followed twins who were Vietnam-era veterans -- 340 identical and 222 fraternal -- and found that those with PTSD were more than twice as likely to develop coronary heart disease.
The findings were published today in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
Naturally this would affect anyone with PTSD to one degree or another--and previous studies have clearly indicated that battered women and other abuse survivors have increased rates of illness across their lifetime than women who have not experienced abuse.
Given my family history of early onset heart disease it was a double whammy (ha, no pun intended) I didn't need.
